On May 9, 2022, as a token of esteem and deep gratitude for his outstanding philanthropic contributions to benefit Tel Aviv and its citizens, Stanley Gold was bestowed with the title of Benefactor of Tel Aviv-Yafo by Mayor Huldai. The ceremony took place at the Mayor’s Office at City Hall in the presence of Tel Aviv-Yafo council members and municipal leaders, business partners, friends and Ironi Hey High School representatives.

The Tel Aviv Foundation Builds a New Homeless Shelter Named After the Late Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein

In May 2022, the new homeless shelter named after the late Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein opened, serving as a safe and respectable shelter caring of the well-being of its residents. The building overlooks the beaches of Tel Aviv-Yafo and was designed by architect Yoav Messer. It was built through the partnership of the Tel Aviv Foundation, the Administration for Social Services of Tel Aviv-Yafo, and the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews founded by the late Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, which work together in the light of values of providing for those who are most in need.

The Tel Aviv Foundation Empowers 1000 Students from Across the City Attending Summercamp

There is nothing like the atmosphere of camp to improve self-confidence, social skills, and well-being. After two years of the pandemic, which brought quarantines, isolations, and distance learning, over 1000 teenage residents of the City enjoyed a 10-day leadership summer camp experience packed with activities. The camp summer camp experience was largely funded by a generous donation from the Summer Camp Israel organization, founded by the Goodman Foundation and the Education Administration of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality.

At “SAHI” instead of telling the youth: “we came to help you” the message is: “we need your help to help others.” The youth who take part in Sahi’s weekly activities, most of them in at- risk groups due to the behavioral and conditional settings the grow-up in, discover how powerful it is to do something for someone else. In doing so, they not only benefit others and themselves but also become a model of inspiration for the entire community and thus promote the value of mutual responsibility in the City. At the beginning of the month, the Tel Aviv Foundation held a fundraiser to expand the activities of Sahi in Tel Aviv-Yafo with the leadership of Galit Farber Sharetzky and Meriv Bander Safdia, who recruited many of their social circles who contributed to the success of the event.

The Tel Aviv Foundation Builds the HaGal Sheli New Home in Jaffa, the Australia -Tel Aviv-Yafo Surf Education Center

HaGal Sheli new home in Jaffa, the Australia -Tel Aviv-Yafo Surf Education Center – built by the Tel Aviv Foundation and the Tel Aviv Yafo Municipality has officially opened!

The opening ceremony, held in the presence of the Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Ron Huldai, and Australian Ambassador to Israel, Paul Griffiths, was a true celebration of pluralism and equality.

Utilizing surfing as an empowering educational tool, HaGal Sheli provides at-risk youth from across the city, from all communities and religions, a real opportunity to “ride the wave” to a better life, providing them, Tel Aviv-Yafo and Israel as a whole, the possibility of a better future.

The establishment of the new HaGal Sheli center, which will allow the program to expand in the city, conveys the core values ​​of the Tel Aviv Foundation – promoting a pluralistic city, advocating for equality and opportunity for all, and fostering mutual responsibility.

Liebling Haus-White City Center opens for 100 years of Bauhaus

Celebrating 100 years of the Bauhaus design movement in Tel Aviv, the newly-renovated Liebling Haus-White City Center opened on September 19, 2019. A joint project of The Tel Aviv Foundation, the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo, and the German Government, the event was held in the presence of the current and former State Secretaries of the German Ministry for the Interior, Building, and Community – Mr. Marco Wanderwitz and Mr. Gunther Adler – as well as the German Ambassador to Israel, Susanne Wasum-Rainer.

Liebling Haus-White City Center will showcase the “White City” through a range of exhibitions and events. This follows Tel Aviv becoming a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2003 for having the highest concentration of Bauhaus buildings in the world.

The Bernard van Leer Foundation Board discusses Urban95 progress in Tel Aviv

The Board of the Bernard van Leer Foundation met in Tel Aviv on September 8, 2019, with program partners The Tel Aviv Foundation and the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo to discuss progress on future plans for Urban95 in Tel Aviv. Urban95 is a family-friendly urban design program that encourages planners and service providers to imagine their city from 95cm, the average height of a three-year-old to create public spaces and services that promote positive early childhood development.

The program has been operating in Tel Aviv for three years and there are plans to embark on stage 2 to reach more population groups in the city.

At the same time, the study on Urban95 in Tel Aviv, published by Princeton University in collaboration with The London School of Economics, was released (click here to read), recognizing Tel Aviv as a global case study for placing early childhood at the heart of the city’s agenda.

This follows Fast Company magazine selecting Tel Aviv’s Urban95 program for an honorable mention in the Spaces, Places, and Cities category in the 2019 World-Changing Ideas Awards.

The Lou Dunst Trust supports Warm Homes after-school program

The legacy of the late Lou Dunst from San Diego, a longtime friend of Tel Aviv, was strengthened with the recent donation in his name to Warm Homes, an after-school program for children ages 3-7 from low socio-economic backgrounds in south Tel Aviv. Warm Homes provides a supervised and supportive environment for at-risk children to facilitate healthy development and prevent social delinquency.

On her visit, trustee Reina Shterenberg was moved by the deep need, and the nourishment and educational support the children receive.
