Background

The Dizengoff Room is a unique historical site located within the Tel Aviv City Museum at the historic City Hall building on Bialik Square. This preserved space contains the meticulously restored office of Meir Dizengoff, Tel Aviv’s inaugural mayor, serving as a tangible link to the city’s founding era.

The Need
While the room holds immense historical significance, there is a pressing need to ensure its long-term preservation and enhance its educational value. The historic furniture requires proper maintenance, and modern presentation methods are needed to make the exhibition more engaging and accessible to contemporary audiences. Additionally, there is untapped potential for new historical research about Tel Aviv’s early years.

The Project
This heritage initiative encompasses three main components:
– Professional preservation and maintenance of the historic furniture
– Installation of modern multimedia exhibits to enhance visitor experience
– Support for new historical research about Tel Aviv’s formative years

The project will culminate in a special event at the museum, presenting new findings and stories that illuminate Tel Aviv’s early history through the experiences of its residents.

Impact
By preserving this important historical space and enriching it with new research and modern presentation methods, the project will strengthen the connection between Tel Aviv’s past and present, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the city’s evolution and the vision of its founding leaders.
