BACKGROUND
The City of Tel Aviv-Yafo serves 67 primary schools. Over the years, the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality has
invested considerable resources in reinforcing and expanding learning and enrichment hours during
the school day and after-hours. During the 2016-2017 academic year, a unique program was

parents. The program operates in all the elementary schools in the southern part of Tel Aviv and in
Yafo. The curriculum, led by the Pedagogical Division of the Municipal Division of Education and the
Ministry of Education includes language, math, English, and science lessons under the guidance of
professional teachers. The enrichment program also includes music, robotics, art, sports, and more.
Additionally, the program includes a hot lunch for the students.
The average hours added to each class is between 12-20 hours in each school per week. The program
operates in 24 schools in the Southern part of the City and Yafo, touching the lives of 3,759 pupils
between the 1-3 grades. Of those pupils, 3,000 participated in the extended day program between the
2016-2017 academic year.
