Tel Aviv’s Most Vulnerable Communities, as identified by the municipality, are the following:
4,400 Children of Asylum Seekers and Work Immigrants
67,000 Senior Citizens and Holocaust Survivors at very high risk
38,460 Welfare Families previously known to and treated by Social Services
20,000 Jaffa’s Arab Community Members
Women at Risk (Domestic Violence and Prostitution)
THE OFFERED REMEDY
The Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo’s Emergency Fund allocates several forms of immediate assistance:
Vouchers – 300 ILS Per Family
• Approximately 80% of the vouchers will be provided to families known and treated by a social worker, prior to the Corona crisis.
• Approximately 20% of the vouchers will be distributed by “Messila” organization to the community of asylum seekers living in southern Tel Aviv.
• The vouchers will be purchased by the Tel Aviv Foundation, and handed over to the Social Services Administration, which distributes them through social workers directly to families, on an as-needed basis – determined by the social workers in the field.
Families and elders that do not have the ability to go out and purchase supplies will be assisted by a volunteer which will deliver it to their doorstep.
Volunteers will assist communities in need of transportation for medical treatment and supplies.
Emergency Microgrants for Families and Individuals in Need.
Families and individuals facing immediate financial strains will be assisted by an emergency microgrant of up to 5,000 NIS which will go towards covering urgent payments.
